Cash Rules Everything / Work

Cash Rules Everything / Work

My latest work has been taking place in a work environment, my work environment. Lately, I have not been doing many news stories but still been doing stories. Am I starting to steer toward doing more editorial and documentary work? I feel very unfair and unsatisfied with covering news stories as the stories come. Like the recent shooting at a strip mall in Allen, Texas. Should I have gone? Maybe, but why? When are there going to be others taking the same images? I want to go deeper; I want to understand why something happens, who it affects, and who can help change things. These images are...

1/27/23 Dallas, Texas - At 6:30 PM, a group of protestors and organizers, Next Generation Action Network (NGAN),  meet at the Dallas Police Headquarters to voice their support with Memphis, Tennessee, after police released the footage of a young black man, Trye Nicholes, being beaten by five officers and later passing from his wounds. Protestors spoke on a microphone about their frustrations on still fighting against police violence against black men and women. "I am tired of doing this, being in front of these cameras and seeing another black man killed by police." Says...

Post Pandemic Flee Market

Images were taken during a hot and humid day in Grand Parie, Texas at the Flee Market. A huge concrete lot with spaces for vendors to sell goods and food. Last year a sight like this would not have existed due to the pandemic. As 2021 reaches the summer season, more public events like this almost affect 2019 was just a bad dream.

Street Photography

Street Photography

Single Images | Street | Texas The third day out practicing some street photography and I felt more in the grove today than yesterday. So why do street photography? Street Photography is a way to practice capturing creative photographs of people and places in an uncontrolled environment. I like to walk around a city and press the shutter at anything that strikes out to me. [ [compositions, light, people, moments] This type of photography is hard; because, well, to some people, it’s scary taking pictures of people on the street without permission. You have to master your approach and...

Photo Essay | Texas | Family I’m the type of person that brings a camera with me everywhere I go, I enjoy looking through a camera in my life. My family has become the most photographed thing in my world and it’s important to me to document our lives. These pictures get created into little books each year highlighting the personality, adventures, and emotions of our family. When I take these pictures I think, if only I can take pictures like this when I am around non-family. That’s my goal as a photograph to be able to have no second thoughts or doubts when doing my work,...

Finding you again.

Finding you again.

So I recently have taken a step back and decided that I needed a break from the internet world and just from the thoughts of having to keep up. As the pandemic starts to see the end of the road, we are all left to just start life back to normal. I find this easier said than done. Long story short, I have decided to refocus on myself, my work, and my family. These images are of my personal experience from the past year we all seem to have hated, 2020.

The Crawford Family

For the last two months, I have been focusing my cameras on two brothers in Weatherford, Texas. Weatherford is known in the media lately for its July 24th protests against the Confederate monument that was anonymously voted to stay on the courthouse grounds; locals came out to protest against the statue as they did to protect it. Guns and violence broke out of this small town as racism issues have been focused around the country. These two brothers are on the front lines in this fight. They have been spending the better part of this year researching their family history that ties back to...

My new blog.

My new blog.

So for many years, I have tried to keep up with a photoblog. Needless to say, once Instagram came out, I scrapped the idea of a blog. This year, what has changed for me is the importance of showcasing my work under a platform where the right people can see it. I feel my audience on Instagram is more leaned to people looking at photos and people who take photos. I hope to share some work that shows my love and passion for photography and long-term storytelling. I love being a small town documentarian and a person my community can call upon if they need photos. I feel my purpose on this...
